Purpose

VERA is forensic analysis software for laboratories, investigative services and court-appointed experts. The public site describes the software. The account is used to request access, download an installer, manage an institutional licence or a Cloud subscription, and pay for AI credits when that mode is open.

Opening an account does not grant access to the software. Access is granted after a human review, organisation by organisation.

Account

The account is personal. You are responsible for the password and sign-in codes. The administration console requires two-factor authentication.

A Cloud seat allows one live desktop session. A newer sign-in disconnects the previous one.

VERA Forensics may suspend an account for breach of these terms, non-payment, or a request from a competent authority.

Software editions

Full: institutional installer. Activation by a licence key verified offline on the workstation. The software does not contact VERA Forensics servers. Case data stays on the customer's infrastructure.

Trial: the same offline-key activation, limited to the bundled fictitious dataset. Creating, importing or removing a case is refused. There is no VERA account sign-in.

Cloud: sign-in with the VERA account. Views and case files stay on the workstation. AI features (assistant, meaning-based search, transcription) go through the Cloud API only with consent, and are billed in credits.

Case data

Do not send real case data through the public site (forms, site mail). The Full and Trial editions transmit nothing to VERA Forensics.

On Cloud, case files stay on the workstation. When off-workstation AI is enabled, the query text, extracts needed for search or the assistant, and audio for transcription when used, are sent to inference processors. VERA Forensics does not keep case content.

Permitted use

The software is for analysing extractions in a lawful setting (investigation, expertise, research). You warrant that you have the right to analyse the data you load.

You may not resell access, bypass seat control, share an account, or use the software as a service for third parties unless a contract says so.

Unsigned installers

Installers are not yet code-signed. Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper may warn. On Windows: More info, then Run anyway. On macOS: right-click, Open. Check the SHA-256 shown next to the download before installing.

Availability

The site and the Cloud API are provided as available. VERA Forensics aims for reasonable continuity, without a 24-hour availability commitment unless an institutional contract says otherwise.

Full and Trial, once installed, run offline on the customer's infrastructure and do not depend on VERA Forensics being reachable.

Intellectual property

VERA, the site and the documentation are the property of Ossire SASU (trading as VERA Forensics). A licence to use is not a transfer of ownership. Third-party names belong to their owners.

Liability

VERA is an analysis aid. Search hits and assistant output must be verified by the examiner against the source. Ossire SASU is not responsible for decisions taken on unverified output.

The liability of Ossire SASU, other than wilful misconduct or gross negligence, is limited to the amounts paid by the organisation in the twelve months before the event, for Cloud services. For Full, it is set by the institutional contract.
